Abstract

The following seminar paper analyses the ambivalent relationship of the German and Austrian Alpine Club (DÖAV) in issues of nature conservation in the first half of the 20th century. It examines how the DÖAV positioned itself in the emerging nature conservation movement and how the association dealt with the conflict between nature conservation and nature exploitation.
