Abstract

Somaliland – Chances for a new statehood?This paper discusses the possible impact of an independent Somaliland on the development of the local area, the country of Somalia and the crisis region of the Horn of Africa. It will look at different positions in scientific discourse and point out the views of governmental and non-governmental organisations. Furthermore it presents the problems that could be caused by a secession as well as it’s opportunities for the opposing parties involved.
