Resumo

The Image of the Persians in the Literature of Isocrates: The following seminar-paper examines the image which created the Greek orator Isocrates of the Persians. His speeches illuminate how the construction of identities in the political discourse of the 4th century before Christ was implemented. By the use of stereotypes Isocrates conveys a negative image of the Persians which on the contrary serves to produce a positive image of the Greeks and in consequence social cohesion.
